Tuesday was a big day in the history of the Los Angeles Lakers.

The team announced the appointment of team and NBA legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson to the position of President of Basketball Operations as well as the dismissal of General Manager Mitch Kupchak and Jim Buss, who had served as the team’s Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations in a front office restructuring orchestrated by Lakers Governor Jeannie Buss.

As not only a former Laker, but also an analyst covering the team, Derek Fisher had some specific insight into the moves and joined NBA TV’s Gametime on Tuesday night via phone to discuss the Lakers’ plans.
