Thank you very much to those who registered their child or children for the Derek Fisher Basketball Academy this summer. I greatly appreciate your willingness to allow myself and my team the opportunity to work with your children.

By this time, you have probably heard that I will be joining the New York Knicks organization as their new head coach beginning this upcoming season. I am extremely excited at this wonderful opportunity to elevate my career to such a prestigious level.

As you all know, my mission is not accomplished if I am unable to dedicate 100% of myself whole-heartedly. Therefore, given this life-changing decision and with all of the responsibility and work that needs to begin immediately, it is with great sadness and my sincere apologies that I must cancel this summer’s camp.

Please believe that I have toiled with this decision for several days. My staff and I have worked diligently to try and make adjustments, but my upcoming schedule will not permit me to have the daily interaction with my campers that I believe is essential. My staff will work to reimburse your registration fee in full within the next couple of days.
