Derek Fisher’s infamous 0.4 buzzer beater in San Antonio back during the 2004 playoffs was one of those once in a generation “shot heard round the world” type moments.

What nine-year-old Lakers fan Gregiore Narcisse, one of the country’s brightest young minds, heard from the moment was his true calling.

Nine years later, at 18 years old, Gregiore recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florida State University, the youngest person to earn a bachelor’s degree in the school’s decorated history. As he moves on into graduate school, Gregiore continues to hold in his mind Fish’s magic moment and the path it illuminated for him, as he told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

“That was an epiphany,” Narcisse told the South Florida Sun Sentinel. “I realized that my passion for sports was so great that I had to make find a way to be involved in what I loved.”

The next step for Gregiore is the master’s Sport Management program at the University of Miami, then law school as he works toward his dream of becoming a sports agent. But over the next few years, just like D-Fish, the 18-year-old prodigy is allowing room for the plan to change.

“I am impressed with the unpredictable, random nature of life. You may have a plan, but you never know,” Narcisse said. “There are some days I feel like I might be going a little fast. But I remember hearing my great-grandfather say that the world is changing so fast, you never know what’s next.”
