Derek Fisher and the Los Angeles Lakers continued their march to the NBA playoffs with another big win on Thursday night.

The Lakers kept rolling with a 110-82 win over a fierce rival, the Dallas Mavericks, showing once again that they are the NBA’s force to be reckoned with come playoff time. For LA, the win was their eighth in a row and their 16th in 17 games since the All-Star break.

The Lakers used a balanced offense to get by Dallas and needed just five shots from their captain D-Fish. Of those shots, Fish knocked down three, amassing six points in the LA victory. He also added a rebound, a steal, and an assist. He did it all in just half a game, 24 minutes.

No. 2’s contributions came early, when he scored on a long jumper in the first. He followed it up with a layup later in the quarter. The Lakers turned on the jets and pulled away early in the fourth with an 11-0 run that stretched a nine point lead to 20.

Fish’s night would have ended there had it not been for the ejection of Steve Blake midway through the fourth. Shannon Brown was also kicked out of the game late in the fourth. The combination of the two forced Derek, the last point guard left for LA, into action to close out the blowout.

Fish responded by putting the icing on the cake with a short jumper that put the Lakers up 25 with three minutes to go.
