Just two more games remain for Derek Fisher and the Los Angeles Lakers before their playoff sojourn begins, but even though their playoff seeding is set, their regular season is far from over.
Though it makes no difference in the standings whether they win or lose, the final two opponents they’ve drawn at the NBA’s end should give the Lakers a good chance to build momentum heading into the postseason.
No. 2 and his Lakers brethren are 5-1 this year against the Sacramento Kings and Los Angeles Clippers, whom they play tonight and tomorrow.
Against Sacramento, Fish’s best game came in the teams’ first meeting when he scored 11 points, collected four rebounds and threw out three assists. Los Angeles went on to win 112-103. In the other two games against the Kings, also Laker wins, D-Fish averaged 5.5 points and 2.5 rebounds.
KNOW YOUR ENEMY
After weeks of speculation, the Lakers finally know who they’ll play in the NBA’s opening round.
The Oklahoma City Thunder lost last night, and in the process, clinched the West’s eighth seed and a date with the Lakers. LA is 3-1 against the Thunder this year and in the four games, Fish has averaged 8.75 points a game.
NEXT UP
Tonight it’s the Kings at the Staples Center, tomorrow the Clippers. Both games start at 7:30, with the Kings matchup being broadcast on FOX WEST and the Clippers game on KCAL-TV.
