When Derek Fisher takes the court tonight in Minnesota as the Lakers take on the T-Wolves, he knows he’ll have enemies on the opposite side of the floor. But on the opposing sideline, D-Fish has an admirer.

Kurt Rambis, the Timberwolves head coach, is a huge Fish fan, stemming from his time as a Lakers’ assistant. While helping coach LA to the Finals last season, Rambis was effusive in his praise of No. 2, saying there’s not a more consummate player in the league right now.

"He has been absolutely tremendous. Unbelievable. His knowledge of the offense, his undaunted nature, how hard he practices, his maturity — it’s hard to list the number of ways he has helped out our ball club. He’s a great example."

Fish the leader, in his first game against Minnesota this season, found four of his teammates for six assists. The Lakers went on to win that game, as well as their most recent matchup with Minnesota.

A win tonight will clinch the NBA’s Western Conference for the Lakers. The game tips off at 5:00 p.m. PST and can be seen on KCAL-TV.
