The Los Angeles Lakers wanted to end their five game road swing, their last lengthy trip of the season, on a high note.
But unfortunately for Derek Fisher and the rest of the Lakers, the Atlanta Hawks didn’t cooperate, beating Los Angeles 109-92 in the Phillips Arena.
Fish scored four points, and afterward, didn’t mince words about what happened over the past week.
"Not a good trip at all for us, it’s as simple as that," he told the Los Angeles Daily News.
The Lakers left Los Angeles with several goals for the trip, but fell short of achieving any of them, Fish, who added an assist and rebound on the night, lamented.
"We had some things we wanted to accomplish on this trip. There were five games we felt would be highly competitive against teams that were good on their home courts."
Fish flatly said that the times Los Angeles lost, to the Hawks, Hornets and Thunder, were the times they didn’t come to play.
"It was really about a lack of appreciation for the competition. I think, in the three games we lost, we just got outplayed. It’s that simple."
As a leader on the team, No. 2 knows that there are no excuses and that the blame falls squarely and he and his teammates shoulders.
"There isn’t anyone in our locker room offering any excuses of any kind. We’re taking it as hard as we can take it and wanting to come back and figure things out."

They’ll get their chance to figure things out when they return to LA on Friday.
The Utah Jazz come to town on for a nationally televised affair. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PST and the game can be seen on ESPN.
