Derek Fisher and the Los Angeles Lakers finish up their last elongated road trip of the season tonight when they square off against the Hawks in Atlanta.
The two teams have met only once this season with Los Angeles holding off a late Atlanta rally to win 118-110 at the Staples Center.
Fish did most of his damage in the first quarter that evening, when he scored four of six points and dished out three assists before the game was seven minutes old. He also pulled in three rebounds on the evening.
In his last five trips to Phillips Arena, D-Fish is averaging 14 points per game against the Hawks at their house. But a Fish led team hasn’t won in Atlanta since Derek led the Utah Jazz to a 112-106 victory on December 20, 2006.
In his second tour of duty with LA, the Lakers have split their season sets with the Hawks with each team defending their home court. Over those five games, No. 2 has poured in 11 points per game. But the Lakers will aim to change that split tendency tonight and go for the sweep against one of the Eastern Conference’s toughest teams.
It’s at fight at the Phillips Arena, when, the Lakers and Hawks throw down in the ATL. Tip-Off is scheduled for 4 p.m. PST and the game can be seen on KCAL.
After tonight, the Lakers head back to the Staples Center for two games, facing off against the Utah Jazz and San Antonio Spurs.
