Derek Fisher always seems to come up big when the Los Angeles Lakers are in need.
He did it again showed up again on Friday, scoring 15 points in a much needed LA victory.
No. 2 was hot from three-point land against Phoenix, shooting 5-9 from the field, including going 3-6 from deep and finished with 15 points, one of three Lakers with exactly 15 in Los Angeles’ 102-96 victory.
Fish started things off right, hitting his first jumper just two minutes in, putting the Lakers up three. Three minutes later, he picked up a rebound of a Pau Gasol block and pushed the ball up, finding Andrew Bynum for a slam.
After getting a breather on the bench, Derek surged at the end of the half, draining a three as the Lakers went into halftime up seven. To start the second, he hit another three, then found Andrew Bynum again for his second assist of the night.
In the fourth, Fish hit his third three of the night, the last of his 15 points. That put Los Angeles up nine and put the game out of reach. No. 2 finished the game with four assists as well, a fact he attributed to the Phoenix defense.
"With the zone that they played, it forced us to pass the ball four, five, six, seven times, inside out, back around," he said to the Los Angeles Times. "That’s what we’re supposed to do in man-to-man or zone."
