Derek Fisher’s role as a Los Angeles Lakers point guard doesn’t require that he take shots for the Lakers to win, but, as any sharpshooter would note, sometimes a guy starts to feel it.
And when D-Fish gets hot, he can score in droves. He especially seems to like to rain buckets against the Philadelphia 76ers, who the Lakers face tonight in the city of Brotherly Love
Since his return, Derek and the Lakers are 3-1 against the Sixers in four games and two of those wins saw him going over 17 points.
To start the Lakers 2007-08 campaign against Philadelphia, No. 2 set the Wachovia Center on fire with 9-16 shooting, for 21 points in a 106-101 win. But Fish wasn’t content with just getting his own, finding his teammates seven times to lead the Lakers in assists that night.
The following meeting, D-Fish rang up 17 points on 7-12 shooting, including a perfect two for two from behind the arc, leading the Lake Show to a 124-93 win.
Last season, in two games, which the Lakers split, No. 2 averaged eight points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists.
BEANTOWN BOUND
After playing in Philly tonight, the Lakers head up the East Coast to renew their long-standing rivalry with the Boston Celtics.
The Lakers swept the season series last year, exacting revenge for their Finals’ loss the year prior. In the two games, Derek averaged 9.5 points and six assists.
NEXT UP
