When Derek Fisher knocked down a smooth jump shot less than two minutes into the game on Tuesday night, it looked like the sign of a great night for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Derek’s crisp jumper, a deep two on a dish from Lamar Odom, sparked a 9-0 run that gave the Lakers a 12-4 over their rivals from San Antonio.
Unfortunately for Fish and the Lake Show, that would be the biggest lead they would amass all night.
The Spurs tied the game at 14 midway through the first quarter, and then their lead grew from there on the way to a 105-85 win.
D-Fish finished with three points, three rebounds and one assist in the loss.
TEXAS-TWO STEP
It’s a Lone Star week for Los Angeles as they meet up with the Dallas Mavericks tonight. Los Angeles is 1-1 against Dallas this year.
The last time No. 2 faced the Mavericks, he was one of seven Lakers scoring in double figures.
Fish dropped ten points in a 131-96 blowout victory at the Staples Center. It was a measure of revenge after Dallas handed LA its first loss of the year, earlier in the season. In that meeting, Fish scored points and had five rebounds.
Tip off is at 5:30 and can be seen on KCAL-TV.
