The Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs have certainly had some memorable battles over the years, and it seems that Derek Fisher is always in the middle of them.

Whether it was scoring 16 points to open the season series in last year’s 112-111 thrilling Lakers’ loss, mixing it up in back-to-back years in the playoffs from 06-08, or hitting one of the most clutch shots in NBA postseason history, Derek always brings it when playing the Spurs.

Tonight’s game kicks off the first of a four game series this year against the 22-13 Spurs. Last year the Lakers went 2-1 against San Antonio. In the season series, Derek averaged 9.7 points and two assists a game.

The previous year, the Lakers split the season series with San Antonio, and then met up again in the playoffs. Los Angeles dominated those Western Conference Finals, winning in five games. In that series, Fish averaged 6.2 points and 2.6 assists per game.
