Derek Fisher made a child’s Christmas wish come true when the Lakers hosted a couple hundred kids from Boys and Girls clubs throughout L.A. earlier this week.
Fish met with 12-year-old Jonathon Estevez (shown below), who said the vet was one of his heroes.
"It was awesome. I can’t believe it," said Jonathon. "Kobe is like my hero. Fish, too. I love the Lakers. I saw them coming around the corner and noticed that everyone else was looking at Sasha (Vujacic) and (Andrew) Bynum, so just ran over here."

CONCERN FOR PAU
When Lamar Odom accidentally poked Pau Gasol in the eye during the Los Angeles Lakers against Miami last Friday, the worry for Gasol’s health extended far beyond the two players involved in the incident.
While Derek Fisher has seen his scoring average take off with Gasol back in the lineup after missing several games to start the season, but he’s also seen the Lakers put together a big winning streak and everyone knows where the consummate teammate’s real priorities lie.
"When he’s not out there, things are disjointed in a way," Derek Fisher told the Press-Enterprise. "With Ron (Artest’s) newness, combined with Lamar being in the starting lineup as opposed to coming off the bench, it changed our dynamics. It’s hard to describe because it’s the same people, the same players… Since he’s been back, it like we’ve settled in a little bit more to the way we’re supposed to be."
The Lakers have won nine consecutive games and Gasol’s return has been a big part of the surge.

The Lakers return to practice today. They take on the Utah Jazz tomorrow night in Los Angeles. Tip-off from the Staples Center is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PST and all the action can be seen regionally on FS West.
