Over the past six games, Los Angeles Lakers point guard Derek Fisher has scored in double figures three times.
In the eleven games prior to that, he’d only topped 10 once.
Although some people would just chalk Derek’s turnaround up to a slow start, head coach Phil Jackson knows the real reason for Fish’s sudden surge.
Fish has benefited from the return of Pau Gasol (Getty Images). |
According to the Zen Master, it’s the return of Pau Gasol.
"Pau’s a good passer from the high post, trailing, coming down setting screens in transition and moving the ball," Jackson told the Press-Enterprise. "I think all those things correlate with Fish having more opportunities."
Shooting the ball though, that’s all up to Derek, and since Gasol’s comeback, No. 2 is knocking down shots at a torrid pace.
Fish has shot 18-32, an astounding 56 percent during that six-game span. In the games prior to Pau’s return, D-Fish was shooting just 32 percent from the field.
