Fans of Derek Fisher will be excited to read his new book, "Character Driven," which goes on sale everywhere today.

Several notable figures, including former president Bill Clinton, sing their praises about the book.

"From humble beginnings in Little Rock to multiple NBA championships, Derek Fisher’s career has seen highs and lows. Through it all, he’s demonstrated strong faith in the face of adversity, commitment to team goals over individual recognition, and above all else, devotion to his family. His story shows that what truly matters aren’t the achievements or accolades, but the values that carry you through them. It’s a message we can all take to heart." — President Bill Clinton

As detailed in the official book description:

In Character Driven, the NBA champion and starting point guard for the Lakers shares his life story and the inspirational values that have led to his success. Since his rookie season with the Lakers in 1996, Derek Fisher has had a dramatic impact on — and great success with — the NBA. Playing alongside legends like Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant, Fisher has held his own at point, exhibiting his exceptional floor leadership and participating in some of the most dramatic post-season games and thrilling moments in recent memory. In his compelling new book, Fisher shares the values that have guided him on the court and off. From his roots in Little Rock to his record-breaking college career at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, his four NBA championships, and his position as president of the Players Association, Fisher shows readers what it’s like to play — and achieve — at the highest levels.Drawing on the power of faith, he demonstrates how anyone can play for a successful team: whether that team is family, community, or just happens to be one in the NBA. The parents of four, Derek Fisher and his wife, Candace, received news in 2007 that their nine-month-old girl had been diagnosed with a dangerous form of cancer called retinoblastoma.Although his team, the Utah Jazz, was in the midst of a heated play-off series, Fisher immediately put his family first. He asked to be released by the Jazz to be near his daughter as she received the best care possible. Fisher was ultimately reunited with his old teammate Kobe and the Lakers, and the move led to a thrilling championship run that saw the Lakers win the Western Conference championship in 2008 and the NBA championship in 2009.

Please assist – ordered two of your signed books in Feb 2010 from your website and never received them. One was a gift for a friend whose birthday was 5 months ago. The email of the person who was on the receipt has never responded to my requests of status of the books. I’d appreciate your help. Sarah

I saw you on the Hour of Power and want to say I enjoyed what you had to say and your humility on life. I want to get this for my grandson who is 14 and a point guard and wants to someday play for the NBA. He has a great faith and you are an inspiration to a boy like himself. He is a leader with wonderful and humble qualities, is never unkind and supports his team regardless of their abilities. I want so much for him to read your book and am wondering if there is any chance you could write a foreward to him as having faith as yourself and the life choices you speak about is something that someone like yourself would be able to help instill in him forever. I know this is almost asking the impossible but I had to try as it is not to sell or make money but to help a driven young man continue on the faith road in sports and to help to always make good choices and you are a leader that gives boys such as him the inspiration to strive not only toward their goal but lead a God based life. Thank you for your words.
