Five players in double figures, including D-Fish with 14 points, weren’t enough as the Lakers suffered their ninth loss of the season last night in LA.

Derek scored the final five of his 14 points in the fourth quarter, including a game-tying three with 14 seconds remaining, to send the contest to overtime. But they couldn’t stave off a motivated Bobcats team, and fell 117-110 in double OT at Staples Center.

The play was best described by Kurt at Lakers blog, Forum Blue and Gold:

“Out of the timeout, the Lakers bring it up the length of the court with Kobe, who comes off a soft screen from Odom then tries basically the same thing he did last time, driving into the paint. This time it was Fisher slipping down a little on the arc and while Felton wasn’t as fooled it didn’t matter. Fish drained the three. He’s solid like that. Somebody should write a post about that guy.”

The Lakers managed to jump out to a six-point lead in the first OT, but couldn’t hold on and suffered a tough home loss.

D-Fish finished the contest 6-11 from the field and two for three from beyond the arc. He added six assists in the loss.

Andrew Kamenetzky at the LA Times’ Lakers Blog listed Derek among his players of the game:

Derek Fisher: I mentioned the clutch three, but not his 11 other points, nor the 6-11 shooting or the six dimes. It wasn’t perfect, and on the other side Raymond Felton had a good game for Charlotte, but like a lot of things about tonight’s game, responsibility for that can and should be shared. Overall, though, the Lakers got their money’s worth in Fisher’s 41:46 of burn.
